Lately while ministering to people on Facebook, I’ve run into a surprising number who write “Please pray for me and share me with your FB groups. I’ve got Covid19, and I’m scared of dying.
Of course, I’m glad to be able to pray for them.
But how do I tell them they’re “all wet” when it comes to the possibility or probability of their death? After all, the worse corona virus can do is kill their physical body – but all humankind are created to live forever – in Heaven, or in Hell.
In Matthew 10:28 we read “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell”. Only Jehovah God can do both.
And, just as God resurrected his Son Jesus Christ from his first death – so all humankind will be resurrected, but for a judgment to determine where they will spend their eternity, or the total absence of time.
Yup. all humankind will be resurrected – to forever exist in either a place called:
Heaven. Or, in another place called:
Hell, forever separated from God in the physical body of his Son: Lord Jesus Christ.
Of course, all the above has to do with relationship – between Creator and created. And like any other relationship, our relationship with God “is complicated”.
So, to make it easier to understand, God used a group of people to craft his “easier to understand” love letter.
God’s love letter, the Holy Bible, or “scriptures” is made up of sixty-six books, divided into chapter and verse. They’re thirty-nine in The Old Testament, twenty-seven in the New.
Like any good love letter, it cites the past, the present, and promise of a glorious future for creation’s prized relationship, highlighting the.
1. Past. A: Beginning of creation; B: Fall of Lucifer; C: Creation, temptation, rebellion and fall of all humankind. “He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life”. Genesis 3:24
- Present. A: Grace is our passport to eternal life because; B: God entered humankind, and; C: Paid the price for our salvation; “For God so loved the world, he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16
- Future: A. Resurrection of all from death; B. Judgement; C. Eternity – in Heaven or in Hell. “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” John 3:36.
As usual, we tend to “second guess” whatever appears “too good to be true.” God’s love is no exception. And for many, the longer they live, the harder it is to trust God as opposed to their infancy when faith is tremendous. Typically, it withers over time, but in Hebrews 11:6 we’re reminded:
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” So, currently the way to the tree of eternal life is restored.
And the good news is, faith is available for every individual to take advantage of God’s love letter. But the bad news – the real bad news is – due to the fall and enslavement of all humankind to Satan, unless they rebel – their certainty of spending eternity in Hell is an appalling, catastrophic certainty!
In Revelation 20:12-15, John said, “I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.
This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire”.
Dear reader, how about you?
Have you made the crucial decision that determines where you’ll spend your eternity? If not, spring into action now – become “born again.” Today! It’s as simple as A, B, C:
Accept you’re an evil slave of Satan;
Believe Jesus died to pay the price for your freedom;
Commit to the Lordship of Jesus’ Holy Spirit for your new life – from now into eternity.
Use the ABC as a humble, sincere prayer to God. Then be sure to thank him for your salvation. Next, share “I’m born again” with someone ASAP. Finally, begin a daily, consistent reading of God’s love letter to you! Make a daily habit to become spiritually fed by the Holy Bible.
PS: As a new disciple of Lord Jesus Christ your job #1 – “Your Great Commission” per Matthew 28:19,20. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey.
The idea is – simply share with someone how you’ve been “born again” and how they can also! To begin, simply share this post with two or three people today – and every day. Praying God’s richest blessings for you and yours. Carlton
